Amigas, Dia de las Madres celebracion

Dia de las Madres is celebrated in most Mexican schools by a NINE+ HOUR – yes, you read that right – fiesta complete with food, dancing, and a live mariachi band. They go all out to treat us right. We were there until almost 11pm and a lot of women in stiletto heels were still gettin’ on down. It was an incredibly festive day although there’s only so much really loud brass music I can take. I mean only so many hours of enthusiastic tuba, valve trombone and trumpet,  up close and  lighly tuned.  In a cinder block building.  Below are Augusto/Holt’s friend Ashley, several of Luna/Mazie’s friends, and at the bottom a video of Mazie’s performance.  She’s second from the right.

Holt/August’s compadres Ashley y Dariana.  Ashley gooses him and hold his hand and this is the first time he’s ever suggested maybe someday he’d marry somebody other than Mama or Mazie.
