A centerpiece of our travels for me is exploring the power of plants throughout the west. This year’s remedies I’ve traded plantain for peach, elderberry for chapparal. I am lured by the variety of every eco-niche, following an intoxicating little tickling sensation above my nose when meeting new plant allies.

I made the ugliest batch of salve this week, potent but with an experimentally strange consistency. For the first time, I tried to incorporate tinctured plants into a salve along with infused oils.  Live and learn. Except I’m not sure what I learned yet, will have to try it again a different way…  So for vanity reasons, this small batch won’t be for sale. But if you’re friend or family who’s got a skin cancer lesion you want to try it on, I’ll mail you some if you will give it a good go and let me know how it works.
